In 2004/05, 17% of all the accidents reported by the UK Printing and Publishing Industries were machinery related. 192 machinery related accidents were reported in 2004/05.

The following is the method used to prepare maps for publication in Queensland from the 1860s, using the lithographic process.

After compilation of a map by a cartographic draftsman, a specialist lithographer transferred the map to a printing stone (specially imported limestone from Bavaria). The detail was traced in reverse onto the stone using 'greasy ink'. The lithographs were printed from this stone with a slow production rate of 300 copies/hour.

The work on the stone fattened after being used as a print master. This consequently made the original unsuitable for further reproduction. However, before this occurred, the stone was inked and a paper copy 'pulled'.

Whilst the ink was still wet on the paper, it was dusted with a fine red powder, known as raddle or dragon’s blood. The powdered copy was very carefully placed on a new stone and was then run through the press, leaving a powdered impression on the stone. The edges of the sheet were glued in position around the stone.

Small sections of a protective paper cover were gently raised to allow redrawing of the work without disruption to the remainder of the powdered image.

During this period, production of a coloured map containing, for example five colours, would require the preparation of five such separate powdered impressions.

The stones were heavy and fragile. It was important that they were perfectly aligned with the paper to retain registration integrity. The final output quality and texture was exquisite.

The Government Printer

The Government Printer's beginnings were small, formed in 1851 by Superintendent La Trobe (Lieutenant Governor-elect) it consisted of the Government Printer and a staff of 6. The first Government Gazette was published in 1852 and the first Hansard (Parliamentary Debates) in 1856. From Federation until 1929 the Government Printer was responsible for all parliamentary and department printing for the Commonwealth as well as the State of Victoria.

As the office's workload grew (which included exclusive printing for all government publications, annual reports, forms, stationery, parliamentary documents and legislation), so did its workforce to the point where in 1984 its staff numbers reached 556.

The rapid development of technologies including the world wide web and printing innovations during the latter part of the 1980s and early 1990s saw a gradual reduction in the work of the office as more work was either contracted to private companies or was no longer required. A decision was eventually taken in 1995 to close the Printing Office.

Whilst a Printing Office no longer existed, the ongoing need to publish authorised legislation and to ensure the validity of legislation for the community and before the courts, meant that the role of the Government Printer needed to continue. The title of Government Printer was consequently assigned to the role of Chief Parliamentary Counsel, which was enacted as an ongoing dual role by amendment to the Constitution Act 1975 (section 72) in 2004.

Mr Thomas S Harrison, previously Manager of a London printing company, was appointed to the position of Australian Note Printer in May 1912.

Printing works were set up by the Treasury at the King's (later Queen's) Warehouse, Flinders Street Extension, Melbourne.

The first Australian currency note – a ten shilling denomination – was produced in May 1913. Other denominations from £1 to £1 000 followed during 1913–15.

A ceremony to number the first note took place at the Kings Warehouse on 1 May 1913. The first note was numbered by the Honourable Judith Denman, the daughter of the Governor-General, Lord Denman. Other dignitaries at the ceremony were Prime Minister Andrew Fisher, and the Governor of the Commonwealth Bank, Denison Miller.

Photographic Prints

The photographic prints were made, usually by FSA-OWI photo laboratory staff, from those negatives that Roy Stryker and the photographers selected as suitable for printing. The prints were mounted on cardboard mounts and captions were applied to the mounts. The captions include the location and date of the photograph, the photographer's name, descriptive information, and, a negative number. During the FSA-OWI years, the mounted photographs were kept in file cabinets, organized roughly by state and subject. As the file grew, it became increasingly difficult for FSA and OWI staff to use. The OWI hired archivist Paul Vanderbilt to organize the prints for easier access. Vanderbilt recognized that access needs differed--some researchers were interested in entire photo "stories," taken in particular places or by particular photographers, while others sought individual images that showed particular subjects. Therefore, he devised two different arrangements, the LOTs and the FSA-OWI Reading Room File, which he implemented after being hired by the Library of Congress about the time the FSA-OWI Collection was transferred to the Library in 1944.

Photographic Prints in LOTs

After they were microfilmed as LOTs, approximately 88,000 of the original black-and-white photographic prints (consisting of 77,000 images produced by photographers under Roy Stryker's direction, about 11,000 of the prints acquired from other sources, and a few photographs that were not included in the microfilmed LOTs) were re-organized by broad geographic regions (northeastern states, southern states, etc.) and subdivided by numbered subject categories, in accordance with a classification scheme devised by Paul Vanderbilt. Photographic prints produced under the auspices of FSA were interfiled with those produced by the OWI. The prints are available in this classified arrangement in the Prints and Photographs Reading Room. Stamped on the back of each mounted print is the letter designating the geographic region in which the print is filed and the classification number that represents the subject matter of the image. Prints that were originally part of a LOT also have their LOT number stamped on the back of the mount, allowing researchers to trace an image back to the photographic assignment with which it was associated. (Occasionally, photographic prints are found in the Prints and Photographs Reading Room file that were not included in any LOT.)

The 88,000 photographs in the Prints and Photographs Reading Room file have been published as a microfiche set, entitled America 1935-1946. The images on the microfiche are in the same geographic region/subject arrangement as in the Reading Room File. Each of the six major geographic regions represented may be purchased separately. The microfiche publication includes an index by FSA-OWI subject categories. The set may be available at major research and public libraries, where patrons can use it for research and selection purposes.

Where do these accidents happen?

Analysis of machinery accidents in the printing and publishing industries show that printing presses are the most commonly implicated machine. Smaller numbers of accidents were also recorded on: conveyors; binding; cutting; and folding machinery.

The main cause of the accidents were as a result of: being drawn into the inrunning nips of rollers; contact with dangerous moving parts; or entanglement with rotating parts of the machine. The most common injuries were reported as: lacerations; cuts and bruises; fractures/dislocations; crushing injuries; and amputations. Most injuries occurred to fingers and hands.

Most accidents occurred due to unsafe interventions with the machinery. Typical activities included: freeing blockages; cleaning down; making ready; webbing up; and maintenance activities.

Government Printing Office

As the first stage of Parliament was being completed in November 1856, ground was broken for the first building to be constructed on the nearby Treasury Reserve, the offices of the Government Printer. It was designed by J.J. Clark, a talented eighteen year old Public Works Department draftsman, who went on to design some of Australia's most celebrated government buildings including the Renaissance Revival Treasury Building, the Royal Mint and the Customs House.

Clark's original building is now to the rear of the 'New Government Printing Office' designed by J.H. Marsden and G.B.H Austin of the Public Works Department in the late 1880s.

After Federation the Office was responsible for printing both State and Commonwealth publications until separate printing offices were established. In 1911 the King's Warehouse (now known as the Queen's Warehouse), a former Customs Bond Store, was established as a printing works for printing Commonwealth stamps and notes. The Commonwealth Government Printing Office was not set up until the Federal Government removed to Canberra in 1927.

Although the Prints and Photographs Division has a considerable number of images identified as showing members of immigrant groups, the images seldom come with detailed information about the ethnicity or nationality of the people depicted, their names, or details about their arrival.

The images are presented for educational and research purposes. The Library of Congress is unaware of any restrictions on the use of the images. However, patrons who plan to publish or otherwise distribute any of the images should be aware that determination regarding the appropriate use of an image ultimately rests with the patron. The Library generally does not own rights to material in its collections. Therefore, it does not charge permission fees for use of such material and cannot give or deny permission for use of the images.

Screen printing with its ability to lay down a heavier ink deposit is a process where an industrial woven fabric or "screen" is manually stretched to a predetermined tension, and affixed to a wood or aluminum frame using a suitable adhesive or mechanical means. Flexography is a versatile process that can print on a variety of materials of varying sizes. Flexography prints items that we are in contact with daily including cereal boxes, bottle labels, potato chip bags, frozen food bags, corrugated boxes, newspapers and grocery bags.

Once a designer's conceptual design has been accepted by the Bank, skilled artists and designers at NPA begin the process of developing a design around the theme selected and converting it into a currency note. Part of this involves transforming the design into large-scale line drawings.

These drawings become increasingly more complex as the design is developed to include security features. Computer aided design (CAD) technology is also used because of its flexibility and efficiency. During this process, the Bank continues to take advice from the panel of consultants. When the note design is complete, printing plates are made. Separate plates and printing processes are required for the background colours and patterns and the major design elements on each side of the note. The background is printed flat using an offset printing process, called simultan, producing an effect like painting with watercolours. Printing plates for the background colours and patterns are produced photographically.

How are Australia's Currency Notes Made?

Design

Design work includes the development of images and security features. Detailed artwork, including large-scale line drawings, is required for portraits and other design themes.

When completed, the designs are transferred to printing plates. These plates carry up to 60 images of the note, depending on the size of the note to be printed.

Polymer Substrate

A clear laminated polymer film is the basis of the note.

The film is made opaque (opacified) by the application of special inks, except for certain areas that result in clear windows or other features.

In 1996, the Reserve Bank formed a joint venture company - Securency Pty Ltd - with a foreign manufacturer of polypropylene films to further develop polymer substrate and to market it to currency note printers in other countries. Securency is based, with Note Printing Australia, at Craigieburn, Victoria.

Printing & Finishing

In this process, printing plates, polymer substrate, special inks and high technology printing machinery are brought together to produce the currency notes.

Colourful background designs are printed simultaneously with both sides of the opacified polymer substrate using an offset printing process which results in a flat print.

Major design elements such as portraits are printed next. This is carried out by a process called intaglio printing using engraved metal plates.

Separate print runs are required for each side of the note. The raised print that results is one of the security features of the currency notes.

Serial numbers are added using the letterpress printing process. On our polymer notes, each 'number' has a prefix of two letters and two numbers, followed by six numbers. The two numbers in the prefix indicate the year of manufacture.

The notes are given two coats of a protective overcoating or varnish. This helps keep them clean and enhances their durability.

The printed sheets of notes are then guillotined, counted and imperfect or soiled notes removed.

The finished notes are then shrink wrapped and stored in strong rooms prior to distribution by armoured car companies.

The basic principle of lithography, otherwise known as offset printing, is based on the fact that ink and water don't mix. Early lithographers etched images onto a plate or flat stone, applied ink and transferred the image. California Security Prescription Printers Program

California law requires prescribers of any Schedule II through V controlled substance to obtain and use new tamper-resistant prescription forms ordered only from state-approved security printers. The new tamper-resistant forms replaced triplicate prescription forms in 2005.

Effective January 1, 2006, vendors seeking to become state-approved printers of controlled substances prescription forms must apply with the California Department of Justice using application forms here on the Attorney General’s website. The California State Board of Pharmacy no longer administers applications for security prescription vendors.

Applicants generally are screened for prior criminal history and the adequacy of policies and procedures to ensure that prescription forms are only produced and distributed to appropriately licensed practitioners. Security printers must have a means for confirming the licensure and prescribing privileges for any person requesting controlled substance prescription forms.

The state law, Senate Bill 734 (Chapter 487, Stats. 2005), that gave the California Department of Justice sole responsibility for reviewing applications from vendors seeking approval to produce controlled substance prescription forms also made other changes to:

Expand criminal background checks for security prescription vendor applicants to include state, federal and foreign convictions and arrests. (Health & Safety Code section 11161.5(b)(5)(a) and (b).)

Allow the Department of Justice to deny a security prescription vendor application if the applicant, any individual owner, partner, corporate officer, manager, agent, representative, employee or subcontractor for the applicant, who has direct access, management or control of controlled substance prescription forms, has ever been convicted of a crime. (Health & Safety Code section 11161.5(d)(1).)

Require security prescription vendor applicants to authorize the Department of Justice to make any examination of books or records of the applicant, or to visit and inspect the applicant’s premises, as a condition of approval. (Health & Safety Code section 11161.5(d)(7).)

Require approved applicants to submit an exemplar of a controlled substance prescription form, with all the security features, to the Department of Justice within 30 days of initial production. (Health & Safety Code section 11161.5(e).)

Allow the Department of Justice to assess a fee sufficient to cover all processing, maintenance and investigative costs generated from or associated with completing state, federal or foreign background checks on security prescription vendor applicants. (Health & Safety Code section 11161.5(b)(5)(d).)

Make specified format changes to new controlled substances prescription forms:

GPO's Living History: Adelaide R. Hasse

Women have always worked for the Government Printing Office, but until the 20th century few left an individual mark upon its history. One exception to this rule was Adelaide R. Hasse, the first Superintendent of Documents librarian. In her brief 2-year career at GPO, she almost singlehandedly set up the documents library and devised the classification system that, in an expanded form, is still in use today. Her years here show what an intelligent and strong-minded young woman could achieve in the "man's world" of GPO in the 1890's.

Adelaide Rosalie Hasse was born September 13, 1868 in Milwaukee, Wis., the eldest of five children. Her father, a noted physician, moved his practice and family several times during Hasse's childhood, finally settling in Los Angeles, Calif. Due to these moves, Hasse never gained a degree, but studied in public schools and with private tutors.

Hasse began her 60-year career in librarianship at the age of 21, when she was employed as an assistant to Tessa L. Kelso at the Los Angeles Public Library. Kelso soon steered Hasse toward what would become a lifelong interest in Government documents. Hasse organized the library's document collection, devised a classification system for them, and began compiling a checklist which became the first of her almost 3 dozen publications in the field.

During her 6 years at the Los Angeles Public Library, Hasse aided in reorganizing the Santa Barbara and Pasadena Public Libraries. She was also an early champion of Kelso's development of a public library training class, writing a series of articles outlining this work in volume 20 (1895) of the Library Journal.

In that same year, Congress passed the act establishing the office of Superintendent of Documents within the Government Printing Office. As head of the Public Documents Division, the Superintendent was made responsible for the sale and depository library distribution of Government publications. Francis A. Crandall of Buffalo, N.Y. was appointed to this new position by Public Printer Thomas Benedict.

When Crandall assumed his post he confronted a colossal task of sorting and organization. Thousands of documents dating back many years had accumulated helter-skelter in various areas of the Office. Additional publications clogged the storerooms of the House and Senate. None of these miscellaneous collections were arranged in a systematic way. From this chaos, Crandall was expected to organize a sales stock, a depository library stock, and answer the many reference questions directed to his office by the general public.

As a later Superintendent of Documents observed, "The act that created the office did not authorize in terms or by implication the establishment of a document library. Indeed the author of the bill himself informed me that it was never contemplated." But Crandall realized that a library could serve as a "stock key" to the mass of documents in his charge, as well as furnishing the reference tools needed to field inquiries.

In deciding to organize such a library, Crandall realized the difficulties he would face. In his first annual report, he noted that "This seems a simple and easy solution of the document problem. That it is, however, not quite so simple as it seems, may perhaps be inferred from the fact that it has not sooner been adopted. As a matter of fact, it involves an enormous amount of labor and it needs to be skilled labor."

With these problems in mind, Crandall turned to Adelaide Hasse. In May 1895, she left Los Angeles for Washington, D.C. to become the Office's first librarian. At that time, the Public Documents Division occupied leased quarters in the Union Building on G St. N.W. Installed in a corner office on the sixth floor and commanding a staff of three catalogers, Hasse set to work. Her duties included caring for the documents as well as pulling together many scattered collections stored around the Capitol. Within 6 weeks of her arrival, nearly 300,000 documents, including duplicates, had been organized and classified!

It was at this time that Hasse developed the classification scheme that forms the basis of the one still in use at GPO today. Her typescript, with handwritten additions and corrections by Hasse and others, is still held in GPO's archives. The successive drafts show the care with which Hasse pursued her vocation.

Her thoroughness extended to all parts of the Office's operations. In order to get a clearer picture of the way in which the Congressional Record was produced. Hasse asked Foreman of Printing Henry T. Brian if she could be permitted to come in "to see that much of the process as take place in the GPO. I know some of it would be night work, perhaps all night . . . I want to see it all from the time the ms. is received". At a time when "proper" women did not frequent printing production areas in the middle of the night, Hasse's request showed her determination to increase her familiarity with Government documents despite the conventions of the day.

By 1897, the documents library had grown from nothing to a well-organized selected collection of 16,841 printed documents and 2,597 maps. Superintendent of Documents Crandall noted with pride that "In its completeness in preserving every kind of public document, and every edition of the same, it is, I believe, not rivaled by any other collection . . ." It was an accomplishment that added luster to Hasse's growing reputation in the library world.

It was at this time that Hasse received a fateful visit from Dr. John Shaw Billings, Director of the New York Public Library. As she later described it, "Dr. Billings examined the library, but especially the classification, which he went over quite carefully. This is the same classification . . . now in use, in an expanded form, by the Superintendent of Documents." Shortly thereafter, Hasse received and accepted an offer from Billings to join the staff of his library and build up its documents collection.

Hasse's move to New York apparently irritated Francis Crandall. In his 1897 annual report, he observed coldly that "The resignation in May of the librarian of this office, whose reputation, gained chiefly by her work here, secured for her a flattering engagement in the New York Public Library, checked for a time the work in the document library." It was a poor reward for Hasse's endeavors at GPO. It was left to Crandall's successor, Louis C. Ferrell, to do her justice. In describing the origins of the library in his annual report for 1898, he praised "Miss Adelaide R. Hasse, one of the foremost librarians of the country, who was in charge of the arrangement and classification of the vast number of documents turned over to the office . . . This library, therefore, as long as it shall endure, will remain a monument to her zeal and industry."

Hasse's long and distinguished career at the New York Public Library and other Federal agencies is beyond the scope of this article. By the time of her death in 1953 she had become one of the most notable members of her profession. Her last years were spent in Washington, D.C. where she taught at Catholic and George Washington Universities and pursued her many professional activities. In 1933, she presented the typescript of her classification system to the GPO library, demonstrating her continuing interest in the institution she had done so much to build.

Adelaide Hasse left behind her a rich legacy of achievement affecting all areas of librarianship. Although her GPO years were few, her impact on the Office was great and longlasting. A statement she once made about her profession is meaningful for all working women, and summarizes Hasse's own career as well. "Never forget that it is the spirit with which you endow your work that makes it useful or futile. Let us always work towards the end that the compensations of librarianship may at least be honorable, and that the true spirit of workmanship may be kept alive among us."

Los Angeles — U.S. Customs and Border Protection agriculture specialists are meticulously inspecting millions of imported cut flowers to ensure they are pest free. Mother’s Day is one of the busiest holidays for CBP agriculture specialists who are trained to intercept insects, pests and diseases that could harm the agricultural and floral industries of the United States.

On April 27, while conducting an examination of a fresh cut flower shipment from Costa Rica, a CBP agriculture specialist at LAX identified a fungus disease, which had never been seen in the United States. If not intercepted, this fungus could have spread in the United States costing millions of dollars to eradicate. The importer was given the option of exporting or destruction, the importer opted for destruction.

In 2007, CBP agriculture specialists at Los Angeles International Airport inspected more than 168 million stems of imported flowers and intercepted over 2,800 pests. Los Angeles International Airport ranked second in the nation among U.S. international airports that receive the highest volume of imported flowers during the week prior to Mother’s Day in 2007. The top imported flowers during this week were roses, dianthus, chrysanthemums, alstroemeria, tulips and chamaedorea.

On a typical day in fiscal year 2007, CBP seized 4,296 prohibited meat or plant materials, including 164 agricultural pests at ports of entry.U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. Orange County, Calif., Launches Emergency Preparedness Initiative and Web Site

The cities of Anaheim and Santa Ana, the Orange County Sheriff's Department and 18 Orange County government agencies and cities announced the launch of the ReadyOC campaign -- the County's largest public education initiative to date. To accompany the announcement, the campaign's Web site was launched to raise awareness of the need to be ready for any type of emergency - whether a natural disaster, health epidemic or man-made threat.

"The need to raise awareness of making a plan ... is more important than ever, since we, as businesses and residents, can face any number of potential emergencies," said Lieutenant Chuck O'Connor, city of Anaheim Homeland Security Bureau. "While Orange County's police, fire and public safety officers are some of the most prepared professionals in the nation, residents and businesses must also be prepared. Orange County Improves E-Mail Security While Reducing Costs

Orange County, Calif., has selected Secure Computing Corporation to protect its IT network with a unified set of Secure Computing products. Orange County Airport

The Orange County Airport is a public use, general aviation airport operated under the supervision of the County Administrator. It is located five miles northeast of the Town of Orange on State Route 20. It has a 3,200 foot runway and will accommodate turboprop and propeller driven aircraft of 12,500 pounds or less. The airport is equipped with an Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS III) to provide pilots with real-time weather data to promote safe operations.

Available on the site is an aircraft refueling capability for both JET A and 100 Low Lead Octane aviation gasolines. During normal terminal hours full service fueling is available and off hours self service fueling capability is available.

The County offers 10 T-hangars for lease and 15 tie-down spots to facilitate aircraft based at the airport. High speed wireless internet connectivity through public access computer or personal lap top computers is available at no charge. In 2004 Tracey Corporation built an additional 18 modern T-hangars for lease to private citizens and businesses. 41 aircraft are currently based at Orange Airport.

Skyworld Aviation opened in 2006 at the airport terminal and provides aircraft maintenance, flight instruction, charter operations and aircraft rental.

The airport is the home of a nationally renowned jump club that rents a large County owned hangar and conducts public and private jump activities at the airport.SkyDive Orange, Inc., under the terms of its lease, will build a new hangar to house its aircraft and conduct operations.

The airport is in the midst of a local, state, and federally funded Airport Capital Improvement Program (ACIP) that continues to enhance the capability to serve public, private, commercial, and industrial users. The ACIP currently extends into fiscal year 2011 and includes $9.2 million worth of new projects, of which $586,000 is projected to be paid with County funds. Managing execution of the ACIP is a major function of the Airport Department.

California Security Prescription Printers Program

The California State Board of Pharmacy no longer administers applications for security prescription vendors.

The photograph that has become known as "Migrant Mother" is one of a series of photographs that Dorothea Lange made of Florence Owens Thompson and her children in February or March of 1936 in Nipomo, California. Lange was concluding a month's trip photographing migratory farm labor around the state for what was then the Resettlement Administration. In 1960, Lange gave this account of the experience:

Inkjet Printer Cartridges

Often just thrown away, these small printer cartridges can be collected and recycled through our new vendor, Ink Heads. Individual offices should work with their Agency Greening Coordinator to use the inkjet collection containers for collection and storage. When a box is roughly 2/3 full, call either the Greening the Government office at 232-7658 or the vendor directly and request a pick up. Ink Heads' contact information is clearly printed on the collection boxes, which are available from Greening. Collection bins are also located in the Greening/Recycling Station located near the information areas of the Indiana Government Center. All inkjet cartridge recycling proceeds are re-invested back into state Greening programs.

Photography

In addition to design, Graphic Services also offers a professional studio photography service. Customers can commission on-site photographs or studio product shots in both film and digital format. A digital image offers clients a cost-effective and timely service where high quality images can be delivered electronically within minutes of being taken.

Pre press bureau

From first receiving client information via disk, email or scan, we ensure that all data is accurately translated through our electronic systems to the press. Once a design is approved, we can digitally output files on plates, film, paper (colour or black and white) and disk (CD, DVD, ZIP or Floppy).

Our plate making capability has recently been upgraded to a digital computer-to-plate (CTP) workflow. This system enables more timely and cost effective plate production than a traditional system by removing the production of film from the process. It also has the advantage of using one file to generate proofs, plates and ink specifications.

5.1 cartridge Qualifications

A.To be eligible for award, the contractor shall have prior successful experience providing remanufactured toner cartridges for at least one (1) year at a rate of at least two hundred (200) cartridges per month. Samples may be required prior to bid award.

B.It is the intent of King County to purchase goods, equipment and services having the least environmental impact within the constraints of statutory purchasing requirements, departmental needs, availability, and sound economical considerations.

C.The Contractor shall warrant that the use of the remanufactured cartridges will not void any manufacturer’s warranty on the printers or faxes. The Contractor shall provide a one (1) year warranty on workmanship in the bid documentation.

D.The Contractor at minimum shall provide an Excel spreadsheet with catalog items quotation for downloading into King County’s ordering system. Contractor shall provide current updates accordingly. Alternatively the Contractor may provide web-based ordering or have the ability to connect to an Oracle iProcurement setup for the Contractors web hosted catalog.

Colour proofs and posters

We have responded to the growing need for short-run posters, accurate digital proofing, and digital aerial enlargements by increasing our capabilities for printing large format individual (i.e. one of) jobs. Our plotters offer a width up to 910mm and any length for large glossy prints. Utilising our electronic colour control capabilities means that colour proofing can be performed digitally, giving the press operators a match proof. The colour accuracy comes from complex colour profiles developed to match the characteristics of the presses.

Previously, the proofing process was a chemical process using separated film. The digital proofing solution has seen a substantial reduction in wastage as the proof is created before high cost plates - hence there are considerable savings in material and labor costs over analog proofing. Working with digital proofs also means that any errors can easily be corrected on the files before final output to plates.

In the aerial photography field, we are catering for a niche market who require output of high resolution scans onto photographic grade paper. Our equipment has been designed specifically for photographic enlargements and we are experiencing a growth in demand for this service as technology shifts from analogue to digital production of aerial photography products.
